New update of old photos (29 Jan 2013)
Wembley
Taken around 2001 on one of the last tours of the grand old lady of world football. Look out for a couple of very young editors running up the tunnel! To this writer at least, this will always be the home of football, and whilst I accept that it was well past its sell by date and needed to be replaced (and what a fantastic replacement) it will always be sorely missed. Still I will always have these photos and lots and lots of great memories.
Eastville
Rovers fans look away.....pictures of their home during demolition. Particularly poignant for me as it was the scene of my first ever football match in November
1974. Pictures taken in 1998.
Rangers v Hearts.
Pictures from a reserve or youth cup game at Ibrox in 1998. If anyone has any details on this game (I think Hearts won and it was a semi final) then please let us know.
Dumbarton
The old stadium at Boghead. Pictures taken in 1998.
Munich Olympic Site
Includes the unique former home of Bayern and 1860 Munich, with that tent roof. Pictures taken in 1997.
Thame United
Pictures from Aldershots 4-1 win 25 April 1998. Stadium no longer there.
Heysel
Arial photo of the stadium during renovation. Picture taken from the top of the Atomium in 1995
SkyDome Toronto
Long distance picture from Toronto Island.

For a bit of fun we thought we would start a page for our old photos. Note, the quality of some isn't the greatest.
There's not a huge number, but we will continue to look in the cupboards and the attic to see if we can find any more. But here's a start........

The Recreation Ground - Aldershot
Highlight of this selection is the long range view of the East Bank. The pictures remind you how little the ground has changed. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this game is a pre-season friendly with Brighton around 1985.
The Rheinpark Stadion Liechtenstein
If there is a better backdrop to a football ground then I have yet to see it. The pictures are from the Euro 2004 qualifier against England (March 29 2003). At the time I was a semi regular watching away England games and got lucky in the ballot (apparently there was extraordinary demand for tickets from England fans wanting to visit this tiny nation). The whole trip was very surreal as hundreds of ticketless England fans descended on the Capital Vaduz (no bigger than a small English town) and the national stadium that was filled to 3,500 capacity. The police (I gather mainly Swiss) had not issue with violence, just trying to stop the fans getting to the stadium (that was a 5 minute walk from the town centre down a country road).
I gather the stadium now has stands at either end, which is a shame as I quite liked the play grounds there!
Our favourite picture is of Bathgate's most famous resident trying to climb back up the grass bank to his place with a beer in one hand and a burger in another!!
Twickenham
Pictures of HQ from the Middlesex 7' tournament around 1990. Our seats were in the North Stand which means the photos show the three stands that have since been demolished. The Old East and West stands are clearly visible.
Barton Rovers
I have absolutely no idea why I had a camera at this game as it wasn't something I did for Aldershot matches (unfortunately). I think this is the 3-0 win for the Shots in January 1996.
Carlisle United
Two pics, one of a couple of numpties trying to get in the ground over the away end turnstiles and another of the main stand (the view from the top of the away turnstiles). Really regret not tuning the camera to the left to get the terrace along the side which is now no more. You can see the unique floolights in the second pictures. Photos from May 1989
Celtic
One picture of the front of Celtic Park. Taken May 1989
Rangers
In the spirit of consistency, one in front of the gates at Ibrox. May 1989
De Kuip
I guess you would call this my first experience of a Dutch bus combi. Feijenoord v Spurs in the Europen Cup Winners Cup in March 1992. Spurs lost this game 1-0 to a Jozsef Kiprich goal and went out after a 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane 2 weeks later. I am informed by a reliable source, that this was the highest number of flares ever lit at a Dutch match.
Molineux
Original South Bank and West Stand. The pictures here are from Wolves v Aldershot in 1987 in the first ever Play-off final. In the previous round we beat Bolton Wanderers which meant they were in the bottom of the football league for the first time in their history. Oh how our fortunes have changed! A big thank you to Gareth for the pictures
Hampden
Some pictures of the England team arriving in advance of the the game in May 1989. They show the facade of the old main stand. For the highlights from the game I found this you - tube clip with some great shots of the stadium.

Lech Poznan
England's trip to Poland in 1991 for a 1-1 draw that put them through to Euro 92 in Sweden. Just love those floodlights!
Highlights of the game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-Vw99ubaqo
Monza
September 1984 and the Italian Grand Prix at Monza won by Niki Lauda. The era of ear splitting turbo engines (i caught one blowing in one picture) and strange Brabham 'arrow' cars. The last picture is of the old banking section of the track that made the circuit unique but are no longer in use.
Odessey Arena
The main indoor arena in Belfast and home to the Belfast Giants Ice Hockey team. Pictures are from the play off game against the Bracknell Bees 15 March 2003 which the Giants won 8-4.
Perth
Two photos of the outside of Muirton Park, one also catching the outside of the Ice Rink. Both no longer around. Pictures taken around 1980.
St Andrews Golf Course
I know nothing about golf and these pictures were taken around 1980. But I believe they show the 17th hole (the road hole) and then the view up the 18th fairway to the Club House. If I am wrong please let us know.
Stadium of Light.
Couple of picture from the 2-0 win for England over Turkey 2 April 2003.
Villa Park
Two pictures from distance of one of THE great stadium facades. Date of pictures not known.
Windsor Park
Linfield 4-0 Newry from 15 March 2003. Look out for a very young member of the PDM team!!
Workington
One picture of the outside of the Main stand in 1989.
Highfield Road
Very long distant view....just make out the floodlights!
