Sunday Football
I remember as a kid being taken to Aldershot for thier first Sunday match, I think against Bristol Rovers. My Rugby-mad Father was already predicting the end of the world due to the club's decision to switch the game (I have no idea why they did it), before we arrived at the rec to see queues everywhere. My heart sunk. My Dad had previous when it came to really big football crowds and, true to form, there was no game for me that afternoon, as he insisted we went home.
38 years on, and whilst it is more prevelant, Sunday football (ex tv or police switch) really hasn't taken off in England. However, over the Channel it is far more common, and good for them. There is something right about sat at a lower league Belgium game on a bright sunny Sunday afternoon (even if it was 1 degree and there was snow on the ground), with a cold beer in hand.
To be fair, I have sat in better grounds and seen better games, but both were more than decent. But the star of the show was the name of the stadium, absolutely quality!!
