JVC Cuijk 0-1 Oss
Sportpark De Groenendijkse

Yawn
Nowadays I only agree to do lower league dutch grounds when they're either new, or I can't be bothered to go anywhere else. This is because around 99.9% of them bore you to tears because there is no diversity in style. It's worse when it's a pre-season friendly, although I don't mind it as much if their isn't much else on. This was to be the case for this match in that I was given a list of games and I said the one remaining game that I could remember. This was only because it featured Oss, whose name had always intrigued me in that they previously went under the name of Top Oss, changing it in 2009. With this in mind it was off to a sport complex in the small town of Cuijk, not far south of Nijmegen.
As we pulled into the car park it became apparent that this was to be a fairly standard lower league ground, the home side playing in Topklasse Zondag. We strolled in through the open gate, free admission tonight, and uniformly let out a sigh in a 'here we go again' kind of manner. The end that we first came upon, like the other, consisted only of a path. Along the left hand side was the main stand. This ran for a third of the pitch either side of half way, at 5 steps high, with the roof being held up by a number of pillars. Either side of this stand was about six steps of terracing. The final side featured a terrace, again of six or so steps. Perched behind was the elevated clubhouse and changing room block. One distinguishing feature that we noted was a single covered seat along this side that we couldn't work out why on earth it was there.
The game was so poor that we barely got value for money. Because of this there isn't really anything to write home about, just a lot of 'tikka takka' football with little end result. In the first half I can only remember a single shot of note from either side. The first of which coming when a shot from the edge of the area from a JVC player dipped in front of the keeper, who had no choice but to palm the ball away from danger. Oss' best moment came when a nice through ball was rifled over the bar from the best part of 10 yards. In the second half the only thing that happened was a goal, and of course I missed it. I was sorting out my camera. I guess that summed up the evening for me!
