Jong FC Dordrecht 2-1 Jong NAC

9th Spetember 2013
GN Bouw Stadion
5pm Monday in the pouring rain and it was hard to believe we were back at the same stadium where we had witnessed the extraordinary events of the previous Saturday when table topping Dordrecht had literally destroyed second place VVV 5-0.
However today was about the junior squads in a match that won't live anywhere near as long in the memory. The sparse crowd, sheltering from the rain in the main stand had little to cheer about, as an inexperienced NAC side (with I believe no substitutes travelling except a reserve keeper) struggled to come to terms with the more organised home side.
Ironically it was the team from Breda that scored first, albeit with a somewhat dubious penalty, the aftermath of which I captured in picture 17, picture 18 showing the penalty easily scored.
Back came Dordrecht and equalised just before half time with a really well worked goal. My applause (obviously for the quality of the goal) did not go down well with Miss NAC.
In the second half Dordt took the lead when an excellent cross from a free kick was headed in by one of three unmarked players in the penalty box. Next we saw a terrific move by Dordt that was almost finished with a flying back heel, that even bought praise from my travelling companion.
The game then really died so I took the opportunity to make a rare trip into the south stand and away end to take some pics.
Towards the end, the game picked up a bit with some chances for both sides, the best of which fell to the home team with a 4 on 1 situation that somehow they managed to blow.
The final whistle came with the home side worthy winners and my lady to the left of me wondering if she can really be bothered with the long winter ahead supporting the yellow and blacks. Still there is always Friday's trip to Helmond, and hopefully the period title for the Sheepheads for her to enjoy!
