vv Oosterhout 0-6 NAC Breda
Pre Season Friendly
Sportpark de Contreie
2 July 2014
And so another season watching NAC starts. As I have learnt, there is nothing remotely close to a 'decent friendly' for the boys from Breda, and this year will be no different as we embark on another tour of lower league local grounds, peppered with a couple of 'home' matches in Sint Willebrord against pro teams. Tonight's season opener saw the 'Parel van het Zuiden' make the short journey north to Oosterhout and the opening of the new sportpark there.
vv Oosterhout's new home is undoubtedly one they can be proud of. Excellent training facilities, an unusual main stand with sloping roof that fits in perfectly with the neighbouring grass banks, and room aplenty for any expansion. There was even a beach football pitch.
To the home club's credit, the larger than usual crowd was well catered for, both in terms of access and refreshment (as you can see plenty of barrels were bought in) and the weather was kind to us all.
The game? Well, all I will say is that everyone got a run out, and not much else changes. Ironically I thought the second half team showed a little more than the first half one, which was made up predominantly of first teamers. As ever, I read nothing into these friendlies, but I very much doubt Ajax, Feijenoord, PSV et al will have much to worry about this season from the yellow and blacks.
Onto to Oudenbosch....
