Total and Utter Respect
To every player, both sets of coaching staff and the officials for putting on a decent game in terrible conditions. Even at half time I could not believe that this game would finish. In fact, as one of the last pictures show, we didn't quite get to 90 minutes when the ref called time on proceeding immediately after the home sides 5th goal.
The score line was incredibly harsh on the visitors. The first goal was a total fluke, and at 1-0 the home goalie pulled off a stunning save to keep his team in front. Around the 35th minute the home side doubled their lead with a flowing quality goal that would have been impressive on a perfect pitch. Even at 2-0 there was a glimmer of hope and the away team pushed for a goal that would make the closing stages interesting. But three well taken goals put an unkind score on the scoreboard in favour of Sint-Gillis, now 6 points clear at the top.
The ground is fairly basic, full length covering opposite the changing rooms and a social club with a small cover in front on the same side.
We had a bit of fun in the second half when the solitary orange ball was dispatched over the roof and we had to do with a yellow one whilst it was being recovered.
I also need to thank Miss NAC, not just for today, but for every single time she has braved the elements through this extended and (for us) harsh winter. We have been to over 70 games since the start of December, most in conditions that are less than ideal. Going to football with someone else makes the whole day far more fun, and I do appreciate it. Hopefully in the next week the weather will improve and the need for 4 or 5 layers will disappear. Ironic as we have just got dressing for these conditions down to a fine art!
