KVK Beringen 4-1 KVK Wellen
20-12-12
Provincial League - Limburg
Any football you can get to on the Thursday before Christmas is a bonus, and a decent game in a nice stadium is an added bonus. Given the rain had been lashing down most of the day, I was relieved to see both the floodlights on and that there was plenty of cover when I arrived. There was also an unusual stand opposite one third of which was covered seats and two thirds indoor sponsor seats. I've certainly not seen something like that at this level before.
Given the conditions the game was great. Beringen scored after just 40 seconds when the number 11, who was about the shortest player I have ever seen, headed home. Naturally he was unmarked! The play then went back and forth with half chances for both sides until the 30th minute when the home number 10 scored an absolute screamer into the top corner.
After the break, Wellen laid siege to the home goal and it was only a matter of time till a goal went in. And on the hour it did, for the home team! Quality goal on the counter. 5 minutes later it was all over when a decent cross field pass was well finished.
Wellen finally got the goal their play deserved in the 83rd minute, but by that point most people thoughts had turned to how to dry out!
