Konigpalast
Krefeld Penguines 1-4 DEG MetroStars
8,029 (Sell Out)
Big is not always better
With a capacity of just over 8,000 (3,000 standing) the Konigpalast is not as big as the previous two DEL arenas we have visited, but it is every bit as good. Both home and away fans have terracing, which made for a great atmosphere at this local deby with the team from Dusseldorf.
Built in 2004, the Konigpalast will win no awards for the design of its exterior, and it was incredibly cramped around the concessions. But inside the arenas itself, it was an excellent venue to enjoy what was an entertaining game.
After the supidity of Mannheim it restored our faith in the DEL.
