It is always hard to compare how bad weather is in two places, but all I can say it that Mother Nature release unbelievable rain on Flanders over three days. On a weekend when all but 3 League 2 and Conference matches were off due to the rain (unfortunately Aldershot weren't one of them as they put in an abject performance at Northampton) only one Div 3 Belgian game was called off and one abandoned.
To be honest the pitch wasn't great, but the ref had the briefest of looks before running back into the changing rooms. Perhaps the fact it would be 3 weeks till the next game (unlike their English counterparts who would play 7 times in that time!!!) meant the approach was different.
And I for one was more than happy. Despite being an athletics stadium I really enjoyed this place and the game was really good. Credit also to the travelling support who, like their team, kept going till the last minute. The injury time winner (stunning freekick) was greated with the kind of celebrations that make you think this team really believe they will make a run at promotion (for the 2nd straight season) when the league restarts.
This place is between Brugge and Lille near Roeselare, so don't overlook it when looking for potential double headers as it is well worth the visit.
