HYS The Hague 7-3 HYC Herentals
The Uithof is a very impressive winter sports facility on the western border of Den Haag comprising a speed skating track (with several thousand bench seats around it and an ice rink in the middle - presumably for the junior teams), indoor ski slope, rock climbing and the 2,000 seat indoor arena that is home to the table topping local ice hockey team. This arena is classic Dutch sports facility, neat, clean, modern and well maintained. But like so many of it's national counterparts it feels cold, almost sterile, although that hay have more to do with the fact the attendance was only 200.
The game itself was an almost carbon copy of the last game I saw Herentals play. They are a decent team and were only 3-2 down late into the second period against a team that is battering all-comers at home this season. But, as with the game against Geleen, they simply ran out of steam in the last period and got bullied out of the game.
