Grimbergen 1-0 Dender
10th February 2013
Park Football
Techncially Aldershot play in public park that is free for people to enter when there is no match on. Well Grimbergen play in a park that is open to all even when a game is on! Barriers are put across the footpaths in the four corners, and tickets sold. But this is an honour based system. Joggers, dog walkers and families heading to the playground behind the goal all wander through.
And what a wonderful wonderful location it is in amongst the trees. Devleopment is fairly limited, but the one stand provides enough cover for a normal sized crowd. The pitch was a bit of a mess, but the weather has not been kind. However, it is very narrow, the 10m tick is inside the penalty box; Loenhout this is not!!
The game involved Dender, so we were glad just to get a goal (the two previous games we have seen involving Dender were goal-less and dreadful). But the real 'star' of the game was the referee who handed out two red cards and goodness knows how many yellows in a game that barely had a bad tackle!
Situated just a few miles north of Brussels, this is an absolute must visit, on a dry sunny day!
