Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen
It is astonishing to think that this is the site of the 1920 Summer Olympics (after it had been taken away from Budapest). The tennis club remains, but the stadium has long since been modernised. Ironically, the football tournament that year was held in Gent.
There are some people who will think it more astonishing that the site is the home of the higher placed team in the city, but this merged club has had some recent success, whilst it's cross city rivals has, regretably, headed in the opposite direction.
For the author, this is the scene of an annual pilgrimage to honour No 23; Francois Sterchele who died aged 26 in May 2008.
Pictures are from Coppa Sterchele I and III; You'll never walk alone.
