Pre-season still hasn't finished.
We are now at that weird stage of the season where some leagues have started, in the case of the Belgian top flight they have played their second match day, and others are still completing their pre-season schedule. So far we have seen the first games of the second divisions in France and Germany but yesterday we headed off to a pre-season friendly in the small town (village?) of Neerpelt in North-Eastern Belgium.
The ground is smart enough. Straddling half way is the bar, the top lovel provides excellent panoramic panoramic views around the several pitches on the complex. Next to this is a small stand split between seating and standing. In the corner is the scoreboard. Both ends are paths. The final side had a small covered terrace consisting of four steps, and a bike shed.
The game was a typical pre-season friendly with neither team putting much effort in. Both goals scored were of good quality though. The first from 20 yards out was a lovely finesse shot (L1+circle for all you Fifa fanatics) into the bottom corner. The second was a massive blast into the top corner from about 25 yards out. The closest Hasselt got to scoring was a cross that struck the crossbar. The game finished early because the floodlights weren't being turned on and the sun had disappeared.
I'd like to apologise for the random dark spot in some of the photo's, they aren't meant to happen but in this case are unavoidable. It appears that I have a bit of dust positioning itself in front of my lens that I can't remove. Google searches reveal I may need a professional in order to clean the lens, brilliant. Hopefully it won't result to having to send the lens off and the problem will solve itself.
