Bovril!!
Those of you that have driven along the motorway taking you from Antwerp to Breda will have passed right alongside this ground, hosting Antwerp provincial 4A games, you may not have been paying much attention, but it's there. That fact alone has grated one member of PDM for a long while, in that for the past couple of years he has driven past in multiple times each week, but despite that he'd never been. Matt and I often reminded him mockingly, Phil had even consigned himself to never visiting. Then by the off chance we couldn't find a local game to go to, that was until we saw this PSF listed. It wasn't even discussed, in the car we got for the short drive down to Brecht.
As this was the first time we'd not gone past the ground at 100km/h we got to have a proper look at the ground. It was better than previous views had suggested, with the far side having a covered terrace running the full length of the pitch. I hadn't seen this stand before somehow, often believing it just to be a wall of advertisements. Either end were empty. The one nearest the skate park/car park had a path, while the end backing onto the training pitch was only grass. It was interesting to note that the only place for seated viewing on the complex, bar the bar, was the small stand on this training pitch. The final side on the main pitch can be split into three distinguishable parts. The section nearest to the entrance was the changing room, next to this the bar. Not the greatest bar, but you can sit in the warmth looking over the pitch. The far end was another covered terrace running through to the corner flag.
I'd love to say that I watched every second of this 'high scoring thriller' but I was awfully distracted, that and I'm not even sure we saw the first team play looking at the Brecht website. Despite having my camera for 2 years now I have rarely ventured out of 3 shoot modes, and with little to do during the day I have researched into some of the other modes. Because of this I spent the majority of the game tweaking with things such as the ISO, Shutter speed and aperture, to mixed results. I can confirm, however, there are several discoveries from today's game. The first is perhaps the most exciting, I was stood at a Belgian game drinking a cup of Bovril, that's right, everyone's favorite footballing drink is finally reaching new corners of the world! I was so thrilled I decided I'd have my photo taken while pouring in the pepper (That I didn't even have to ask for!). The second of these discoveries was that you can change the numbers on the back of you shirts to look like fancy, amusingly carried out by the visitors from Oostmalle, this can be seen in picture 31
