ADO Den Haag 2-1 NAC Breda
9th February 2013
Death and Taxes
Only guarantees in life. Well in the world of NAC Breda there is another guarantee; they will have a nap at some point during the game. It could last 30 seconds, it could last most of the game, but it will come.
In Den Haag, half time came with the visitors easily keeping their hosts at bay, even if they threatened very little themsleves. 23 minutes into the second half they were 2-0 and a man down. The snoring from the men in white could be heard in the stands. I have no explanation for this, nor does it seem have any of the raft of coaches NAC have had this season. Anyway, they woke up, scored themselves then had another glorious chance to snatch a draw.
But to be honest, this game had an end of season feel about it, two very average teams playing out for mid table. The only problem is, NAC are still very much in a relegation battle, and they need to wake upto that!
The stadium is starting to grow on me, although the outside and the floodlights are the best bits. That said, it was a very poor crowd (8,298) and very little atmosphere.
The away end, for once, has pretty good sight lines, although the security was very high. When we arrived at the away compound we had to wait for the electronic (prison style) main gates to slide across as the supporters bus had just arrived. The last few pics show the entrance/exit to the away compound from the stadium. After the game the convoy of cars and bus were led along cycle paths to get back onto the motorway, which was quite surreal.
Finally, a big thank you to the people who even made it possible for me (and Miss NAC) to go to the game. Ticketing rules are very strict in the Netherlands, so I appreciate everything you did in the week beforehand.
