The pressing need for locality meant that instead of a longer trip to Berg en dal we went for the option of a short drive to Wuustwezel. One of the other factors in this decision was that we're now in the process of, ever so slowly, revisiting some grounds in order to improve the photos that we already have. The prior PDM visit to Wuustwezel came in a friendly against NAC with the only photos coming from a camera phone. So with Camera packed and ready we made the short drive. Saying all this it was a new ground for me so I really didn't mind!
The ground, redeveloped/built (we couldn't decide from the photos in the clubhouse!) is part of, as always, a larger complex featuring a number of training pitches. The main pitch is closest to the car park, with the enterance being in the form of a small hut in one corner. This brings you onto the clubhouse side, a two tiered structure running 3/4 the length of one side with a small covered terrace underneath. It was interesting to note a small bar located in one corner, that I can only assume is for non-match days. In front of the bar was elevated viewing with tables and chairs set out. At one end was a gravel path and the other hard standing. Along the opposite side was a wooden main stand providing elevated, covered, viewing with either side small covered terraces. The ground has no floodlights, although the training pitches do.
While the game wasn't a classic it was no where near as bad as the Darmstadt game. The only goal coming in the first half. There were a series of comical misses from either side, including one player managing to hit the post in front of an open goal from 5 yards out. Once again, however, it was a case of me not paying much attention as I was playing about with my camera and taking lots of photos, so I don't remember a lot of the details from the match.
