RSCA 2-2 RAEC Mons
Constant Vanden Stockstadion
21/08/11
25 minutes of queing.
Here at PDM we promise never to be bias so don't think I am bias in this post. As some of you may know through reading this page our Belgian teams of choice are Club Brugge with a soft spot for Cercle. Today we were heading to club's main rivals in the form of Brussels side Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht, or as most refer to them Anderlecht. today's game was watched with Ben from Benhallgroundhopping.
The Constant Vanden Stock Stadion was built in 1917 on the edge of Astrid Park with a single wooden stand. The ground was slowly built up untill in 1983 the stadium was completely rebuilt. In 2010 the club announced that they hoped to add a third ring onto the stadium by 2013. It's capacity is 28,063 with 21,163 seats and the remaining standing. To be honest I really don't rate the ground and is one of the worst in Belguim. It was tight and compact and limited facilities. exiting the stadium took 25 minutes. And we were on a half empty terrace! Credit has to go to the Mons fans who made noise all game. It was good seeing the smoke and fire crackers but we couldn't see them! I'll stick to club though.
