KSK Maldegem 3-3 KVK Ninove
East Flanders Provincial Reserves
Maurice De Waele Stadion
6 December 2013
Regular readers will know that Friday night is, subject to fixtures, reserved for the Sheepheads. The Entertainers. The best value ticket in football bar none. Unless of course Miss NAC plays her joker; work, at home, requiring an empty house. So I was left holding the baby, well an English Bulldog puppy actually. And with our canine friends not allowed in the Sheep pen so to speak, I had to hunt around for something else. Heavy rain postponed the only other viable first team game (KFC Uerdingen), so it was a first appearance at a Belgium Provincial Reserve game; a mere 135km from PDM towers in Breda.
Now some of you may ask why? Why would you do this on a freezing December night following two days of storms and high winds across the flat lands. Well, the answer was simple. It was this or the pub, and with me being on the 10:20 to Monchengladbach the next day for Borussia v Schalke, alcohol was not an option.
And so I joined the other 20 or so fans (although to be honest I think they were all friends/relatives of the away team) at the pleasant Maurice De Waele Stadion for a thoroughly entertaining 3-3 draw.
Ironically, over at Krommedijk, the game ended in a relatively uninspiring 1-1 draw.
