Las Vegas 51's 7-9 Colorado Springs Sky Sox
Cashman Field
Pacific Coast League
16 June 2013
Game 1 of the big West Coast tour and the one most affected by 'memory card gate'. I'm afraid we are down to just a few pano's and the memory of one of the most extraordinary 'give away' in sports. Yes folks, I am now the proud owner of a Las Vegas 51's BBQ set and yes that is genuine metal! In a world where I can have biscuits taken off me going into a stadium as I may throw them, this is amazing.
Cashman Field holds just over 9k and is part of a complex comprising exhibition halls, meeting rooms and a theatre. Whilst it will never win any awards for stadium design (although the floodlights are pretty good) it is significantly better than the city, where I hope I never have the misfortune to visit again.
The game looked like it would be an easy win for the visitors who led 6-0 going into the home innings of the 8th. But LV woke up and scored 6, before Colorado got 3 in the last inning. LV got one back but it was in vain.
Needless to say, most of the 3,112 crowd missed this as they had already left.
