KSK Retie 1-2 Blauwvoet Oevel

On our journey to the ground Phil remarked how he thought he'd been to the town before. In truth he hadn't but everything about it was Belgian, well Northern Belgian at least, including the ground. It was a last minute decision to head to this game, and the reasoning has all but passed over my head. Ultimately though, I wasn't going to argue, due to a tick being a tick and football being football. Dog in the car we made the hour drive over the border for our last -football- game of 2013.
Built on what appears to be a new complex, the ground isn't much to send the heart racing, but it's a home to be proud of nonetheless. Modern, clean and functional. Amble parking is found off the main road, a short walk from the main pitch. This is encompassed by a small strip for joggers/runners, which is split by the path to the turnstile. This turnstile needn't have been there, as although most (including us, well not me) paid, the perimeter fence only backed one side. You could simply have walked towards the fields and gained free entry. Directly in front is a large building, stretching the length of one goal. The top floor is the spacious clubhouse, while the bottom is the changing rooms. The only cover comes in the form of a moderate sized terrace along one side. The other side has a small path, while the far end is only a grassed area. There are no floodlights.
Due to a better pitch, and being a step higher, the game was better than the day prior. The visitors, overall, were the better side but can count themselves lucky to leave with 3 points. They went one up in the first half, through a looping header from a corner. The hosts would equalise in the second half through a well struck free kick, after a penalty was saved shortly beforehand. The visitors would then grab the winner 10 before full time, with a shot trickled into the bottom corner, after a smart turn in the area.
