SV Heibos 1-2 Sparta linkeroever
01/11/12
Att: ~40
At last, some excitement.
Upon returning home I realised this was my 250th ground for football only, so I'm pretty happy. I was anyway, with this game being 100x better than the two we witnessed the day before. We'd woke up unsure of where to go, but thanks to a variety of websites we settled on this game. Not for any reason other than the trees surrounding the ground looked nice. Thanks to a closure on the roads we arrived outside the ground just as the game kicked off. Luckily the parking backed onto the entrance so we weren't going to miss much else.
The ground is pretty much what you'd expect when you realise you're watching division 8 football. Both ends consisted of flat standing. The opposite side to us a small training pitch and park (seperate to the ground) while the side we were on was the most developed. This was a small social club (maximum occupants 150) and changing room complex, with a roof which was welcome when the thunderstorm came in. Behind these is a strange looking building which we couldn't decide on it's original purpose, although I reluctantly have to agree with the sensible approach that it's now something to do with electricity. The floodlights that surround the pitch looked as useful as candles in a sandstorm.
Thankfully, as mentioned, the game was fairly exciting and end to end. The opening goal came in the 15th minute when the visiting team were gifted a free kick 25 yards from goal. The player stepped up and excellently despatched the ball into the top corner past the the home goalie who was never getting near it such was the pace of the shot. Moments later the home team panicked as they had to clear the ball off the line to prevent going behind further. They should've taken the lead further in the 37th but the player somehow managed to drag the ball wide in a 1-1 situation after the defenders failed to judge the path of a through ball.
In what seems a worrying fashion, there was limited action in the second half, so we wandered the pitch to get some other photos and said hello to the resident bulldog. As the thunderstorm arrived Heibos were awarded a penalty as the player bundled down in the area, the defender correctly issued a red card. The player then stepped up to smartly blast the ball down the middle for the equaliser. Heibos should have gone ahead in the 77th minute but the player, after beating the offside trap well couldn't place the ball past the goalkeeper. Linkeroever failed to score shortly after when from two yards out the ball was shot over the crossbar to the players disbelief. Heibos were reduced to 10 men late on incredibly harshly. The player kicked out when there was no need, yes, but harsh all the same. Linkeroever got a corner from the free kick. From this they took the lead as the corner was headed into the back of the net. Heibos could've equalised again with the last kick of the game but the lob went narrowly wide, again in a one on one situation.
We stayed behind for a few minutes to try and work out why people were angry/Linkeroever celebrated so much, but failing to come to a decision we headed back to the car before the rain came again.
