Football - The Great Healer
Work had been dreadful, as bad a few weeks as I have ever had. It was a cold, wet Thursday in May and I was fed up. Miss Nac's solution was to go to football. Not just any football, but Belgian provincial football. I wasn't convinced, but it was only 30 minutes away so for once it was me tagging along.
I stood in the pouring rain under my Aldershot umbrella (always guaranteed to get some stares) with a beer in hand and watched two groups of amateur Belgian footballers play out a play off semi final first leg.
Two hours later and everything in life was good again. This is what it's all about. Terrific game, full blooded and end to end.
The grumpy old man that entered the ground was gone.
Gooreind drew the second leg, but lost the final to Merksem.
