Brøndby 0-0 FC København
Brøndbystadion
10/11/15
Att: 28,000
The eagle eyed of you will notice the amount of games we've done this season has slowed down, but will also notice most games are breaking into newer and newer territory. Next up, or last up, was a trip to Denmark to take in the København derby at Brøndbystadion. A slightly odd choice, but being a tight student I was happy to go to any country for any game as long as it was cheap. £20 return on this weekend was too good of a flight for me to turn down, and significantly cheaper than the £85 I was looking at spending on the Athens derby.
In the weeks building up Phil decided he wanted to come, and PDM had front row (of the top tier tickets) to watch the action. For those not aware, Brøndby is really far from the centre. Like really, really far. And due to the antics of both fans in the run up to the derby there were roadblocks around the ground meaning our taxi still couldn't get right up to the ground. And typically, we were dropped off the wrong side of the ground.
The ground is a modern two-tiered bowl. The only uniqueness about the place is the large terrace behind the goal. Entrances are at either corner with both top and bottom tiers entering in the same section.
Finally finding our entrance we made our ways to our seats to watch the ground fill up. It was immediately obvious FCK fans were up to something, as more and more menacing looking ultras with their faces covered congregated at the front of the stand and built the noise in the ground up slowly. By kick off the ground was at fever pitch with Brøndby's tifo covering two stands, at PDM's mercy of having to release the banner from the top tier, followed by a large strobe show. FCK opted for two banners split over both tiers with 'club for copenhagen' followed by pyro on both tiers. Throughout both halves FCK fans were much better value for money, constantly letting off flares. At the start of the second half both Ultras put on another show. FCK with a strobe show with the banner 'anti 1964', while BIF ultras let off loads of flares/smoke bombs at the front of Sydsiden causing kick off to be delayed.
Unfortunately, what happened off the pitch was let down by there being little action on the pitch and the goal just never coming. FCK probably could've, but for a sending off mid-way through the second half.
